FLAT SCREEN OR PROJECTOR: WHICH IS BEST FOR YOUR HOME THEATER?

FLAT SCREEN OR PROJECTOR: WHICH IS BEST FOR YOUR HOME THEATER?

Check Out the Advantages of Both Features

If you’re considering a home theater installation for your Marion County, IN living space – there are probably lots of features and components on your mind.

What type of brands, the seating placement, or even where you’re going to install the theater system itself – it’s all a part of the process.

But what about what you’re viewing your actual media on?  You have two major choices – a flat screen television, or a projector and screen combo. So depending on your space, your preferences, and design, either selection could be the perfect solution for you.

In this blog, we’ll go through the benefits of both and which one will fit your exact needs.  Keep on reading below!

Hidden Capabilities and Features

There might be nothing quite as sleek and shiny as a high-end flat screen to view your media on.  Whether you set up your home theater system in a multi-purpose media room or in a dedicated private cinema – the design benefits of a flat screen are plenty.

With a press of a button, a flat screen can descend from the ceiling when you’re ready to watch a movie or show, and then disappear instantly when it’s not in use.

Maybe you want the space where the screen is to stay occupied – but not as a blank screen.  You can have a wall panel run over the TV that can display artwork or a mirror, so there’s something lovely to look at when a film isn’t on.

And for a projector and screen combination, you can hide or reveal your technology just as easily.  Use your smart device to lower or raise up the projector into the ceiling, and have the screen roll down at the time.

The main difference is that if you want your projector and screen to stay hidden when not in use – they don’t have any bonuses for design aesthetics like a flat screen does.

However, a movie projection can give any space the feel of a traditional theater. So when you do lower your equipment – or even if you keep them visible when not in use – you can feel like you’ve entered a local cinema.

Pair your projection screen with high-performance loudspeakers, and you’ll have the ideal theater setup.

Lighting and Room Size

You’ll want to consider how big the room you’re placing your screen in is, and what the properties of said room are.  If it’s a larger space that requires a massive screen – say one that’s meant for just movie-watching and nothing else – then you’ll want to know your exact budget.

Projectors and roll down screens are often more expensive than flat screens when all is said and done, especially when the screen is massive.  But if you’re looking for a large screen to take up a significant portion of a wall in the theater – a projection screen offers that scalability.

Additionally, if your room has multiple windows that you’re not planning on covering all the time – check to see how well your potential projection screen does in ambient lighting.  A flat screen’s brightness often does better with glares and sun rays peeking in during the day, so your media won’t be ruined from the sunlight.

Which screen you choose for your home theater installation all depends on your design setup, your room size, and your budget.  No matter your decision, a screen with 4K Ultra HD resolution and quality is the way to go.
