One might think that the only important factor in a projection system is the projector, and while its true that the final output can only be as good as its source, once you’re passing an HD picture through an excellent projector, the next largest factor that will determine your overall picture quality is the surface that the image is displayed on.

Da-Lite recently partnered with John Kane Productions to reveal one of the greatest projection surfaces ever created with their Affinity line of high definition screens. The surface itself is quite smooth compared to most other screen surfaces, and this allows for extreme detail rendering. Additionally, the JKP Affinity screens have an incredibly wide viewing angle. What is known as the “half gain viewing angle,” or the position to the side of the screen where it appears to be half as bright, is advertised as 70 degrees but has been tested even wider. This means you can be completely off axis for viewing and the screen will still appear nearly as bright as if you were viewing from straight ahead.
