Job Title: Field Technician
Reports to (Title): Operations Manager
A Field Technician installs low-voltage systems in residential and/or commercial projects. They possess a minimum of 75% of the skills listed below.Role Summary:
Technical Knowledge:
- Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and web applications.
- Familiarity with Apple IOS products (Apple TV, iPad, iPhone/iTouch, OS14, etc.) as they relate to daily use for interfacing with and controlling integrated homes and/or home networks.
- Ability to navigate around PC and Mac computers.
- Able to navigate around PC, file structures, the control panel and command line prompts.
- Intermediate knowledge of electronics application and theory.
- Full understanding of the pre-wire, trim and final phases of a project, including proper use of all associated tools and jobsite safety
- Able to read and understand device layout drawings, engineered schematics and provide redline corrections and construction blueprints as they pertain to A/V industry.
- Basic understanding of Ethernet network system setup, able to set port forwarding, MAC addressing and basic configuration.
- Basic knowledge of all test equipment.
- Basic understanding of serial communication language protocols.
Leadership:
- Communicating with Clients and Contractors.
- Preparing project status reports and works to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.
- Providing quality control at the rough-in and trim phase of the project.
Installation Knowledge:
- Able to demonstrate intermediate knowledge of the BRAVAS product line.
- Able to trim phone & data jacks, speakers, volume controls, IR receivers’ keypads, touch screens, and other devices under supervision.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of wire differentiation, connectors, connections, splicing, and head-end termination.
- Practices exceptional wire management and dressing skills. (Racks, interconnects and wire runs in construction unsupervised)
- Able to mount video displays and projectors, terminate feed and control wires under supervision.
- Able to install multi-room audio systems under supervision.
- Able to install, test, setup and troubleshoot AV receivers under supervision and have basic understanding of acoustics.
- Basic ability to trim and punch down phone connections.
- Able to program manufacturer remotes and upload programmable remotes.
- Understanding of cable TV systems -termination, distribution amps, signal balancing, and able to test and troubleshoot under supervision.
- Able to terminate, test and troubleshoot network systems under supervision.
- Able to install CCTV cameras under supervision.
- Understanding of wiring requirements for sub-systems, like HVAC and security systems, integration to control systems and setup of thermostats under supervision.
- Understanding of wiring requirements for Crestron, Savant, AMX, and similar networks.
- Understanding of wiring requirements for Lutron, Crestron, and Vantage lighting control systems and ability to download programs.
- Understanding of Lutron shading systems wiring requirements and able to install and perform set up.
B. Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions) % of Time
Technical
- Includes running wires, cables & structured wire packages through new or retrofit construction. - Identification, labeling & termination of wires. - Installation of equipment and testing for proper operation. - Obtains necessary components for installation of designed systems and sub-systems. - Accurately completes required paperwork - Maintains daily communication with Lead Technician and/or Project Manager on status of projects and associated task lists.

EDUCATION:
HS Diploma/Equivalent - Required
Associate, Bachelors Degree, or 2 Yr Technical - Preferred

Working conditions:
- Must be a licensed and insured driver with a current, valid driver’s license to be able to drive a BRAVAS company vehicle.
- Must have a clear driving record (no convictions in the last 3 years of: DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and no more than 2 moving violations or accidents).
- Proficient use of company tools and equipment
- Able to organize materials, tools and equipment
- Able to interpret maps and navigate cities
- Possess dexterity skills: bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, digging, climbing ladders and standing for long periods of time
- Lift and carry up to 100 lbs up 2 flights of stairs and lift 35 lbs over head of company tools and equipment.
- Work inside and outside throughout the year even in extreme weather conditions, especially during the winter.
- Recognize, practice and enforce safety rules and procedures.
- Use safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
Work hours:
- Employee must report his/her time promptly and accurately in BRAVAS time reporting system.
- Flexible hours to include weekends and shift work may be required
- This position may require overtime and is expected when necessary.
